Hi Folks

I have got all these installed and I want to pick your brains so to speak for tips and tricks and how to's

I am at the moment uploading the updates and map packs, and then I will set up the profiles locally and then upload them, but for the lift of me in the user profile I can not see the line which controls the game type.

2 how do you use the shortcut to connect direct to a gaming server?

How do you control weapons on a level by level basis?

Can anyone think of anything else I may find handy?

Thanls!

your friend

Are you refering to running a dedicated server or ?

in the player.txt you should have a line like
this in the [Multiplayer] section of the file

GearRestrictions = ""
AmmoRestrictions = ""
GameType = 4 (4 is Doomsday)

I'm guessing this is what you are refering too.

Hi "(JAG) Sauron",

Our "NOLFING" friend "{SFI} Eliteone" is probably right on this one,
however if this is not what you are asking, then maybe my suggestion is what
you are looking for.

In you server text file there is information about using the "SCMD"
commands, that is how you can remotely control what is happening on your
server.

I believe (I could be wrong, and if I am, I am sure someone will
correct me pretty quick, lol), that if you set up a personal dedicated server
just for yourself and put in whatever it is that you want in that server, then
close the server and copy the server txt file that was made, then put a copy of
that file into your server folder, if you are sending it to one of you commercial
server providers.

"NOLF 2 & CONTRACT JACK" are very different when you are running
a server compared to "NOLF 1", in "NOLF 1" you needed a separate program to
do this or you had to be at the server to place in your commands whenever you
wanted changes including booting people, however you needed a separate
program to actually ban IP address's and such, however with "NOLF 2 &
CONTRACT JACK" you can use the "SCMD" commands to run your server
remotely, including banning IP address's, cool eh, lol.

When I first found out (discovered) about the "SCMD" contols, I just
couldn't believe how easy it was to control everything that happened on my
server.

Learn how to use the "SCMD" commands for your "NOLF 2 & CONTRACT
JACK" servers and you will be amazed at just how easy it is to change whatever
you want on your servers, like I said including banning IP address's, by the way
you could be on another computer in a friends house that has these games and
you will be able to still control the servers from your friends house, you do not
need to be on the same computer, got to love it eh (JAG) Sauron, hehe.

Just choose a personal password for yourself, and your done, lol.

I hope I have been of some help to you my friend. ;)

That is exactly what I am looking for as I would rather manually edit the game files rather than having to change them locally and then upload them! one down!

Thanks

I have read the server readme and fully understand that aspect of the game, but I was wondering if there is any known undocumented features etc plus my other questions!

Hi"(JAG) Sauron",

I am sorry I wasn't of any help to you, when it comes to servers
from commercial ISP providers, I would say that our "NOLFING" friend
"{SFI} Eliteone" is most likely the best person to talk to, as she has a ton
of experience with this issue.

Again, sorry my suggestions were not helpful to you.

I have a "template" I made for making Servers. If you need to "borrow" it let me know.

No T&L support on the server's graphic card? The game doesn't have to run properly on the server though.. As long as the dedicated server runs fine..

You could copy the maplists from another computer I guess!

The server was set up using all the patches and the map pack and also I used the settings from my own PC so that the maps and game mode was right but it still was coming up with errors.

The only thing I can think of is DirectX or some codec that is needed!
I think Nolf2 & CJ requires a newer version of directx ;)

Both Nolf2 & CJ should run fine on a 2K machine, but it has Direct X 7.. I believe Nolf2 & CJ requires Direct X 8 or higher :D
