What do you do when the graphiccard fan dies?

You look for another fan to replace the old one :)

A fan is an important part of the graphic card and I personally use as many fans as I can because i'm a fan's fan cause it's cool. :))

Then as we are dealing wth technical matter, my external HD has fallen on the floor from the desk and is OOO.
The HD is under garantee and will be replaced by the maker (Maxtor) but to recover my data (100 GB of MP3 and 6 years of work) it should cost at least a 1000 euros.

Maybe some wizard here knows a cooler solution?

i'l be gratefull :friends:

:)) YEAH! that I allready know :))
But do not relate wood to computers as our Norwegian friends do have wooden computers (its the only matter that doesn't freeze there, where they live, close to the north pole)

Aren't there any "help you get your shit back from floor-fallen disks" programs? That is if the HD is still alive...

Thanks for your answer :thumb:

Actually the HD is not well alive but not totally dead yet.

When started it makes a stupid sound, mix of hard core techno and primitive cellular phone ringing :music:

Any recovery software is useless as long as the HD won't start, of course.

All I found was data recovery cies. that will open the HD, take the disks out and read them with their own displays but its (quite) expensive

Cheaper than my car's (front) (h)ash tray though :))

:headbang: there you are!
Thanks Cate I dig your support and I'm touched by your kindness.

But with the bunch of comp wizards here I thaught one of them could bring me some sort of solution... :P

Actually I found someone in Bangladesh but I don't expect to go there b4 a century or two and, besides, I've heard they dont even speak Norvegian over there.

See you around soon and dont forget: I am your friend! don't kill me it hurts :punch:

I've been told about a software for that kind of problems (that worked like a charm)

I'll be back later today with the details, my neighbour just used it to save his stuff :)
