I've been working on a custom Call of Duty map now for the past five months or so. It supports all of the retail multiplayer game types. The .obj importer with Jupiter doesn't seem to work, it always crashed with me. You'll have to import the .obj file into Maya or 3dsmax first and then save it as an .lta so it will load into DEdit.

Actually, having the server transfer the maps kind of sucks because it's usually slow and can possibly lag the players. The best thing would be like how CoD and some other games do and allow HTTP redirect where you can specify to the server a URL to a map and it downloads it from there. It downloads...

I found this link the other day and it isn't a tutorial so much as it is a guide. It gives the RGB values of some "real world" light sources. So if you don't like experimenting with the RGB values to get the color of light you want or if you're uber-colorblind like myself this might help y...
